Precious Moments started as a small venture between creator Sam Butcher and his friend Bill Biel. They began by selling their line of cards and posters at Christian conventions and before too long, the men were approached by Enesco Corporation. The first ever produced porcelain figurine, which is the flagship product of Precious Moments today, was called “Love One Another,” and it was made by Enesco based on Butlers design.

Based on the designs of Sam Butcher, a born again Christian, Precious Moments have been popular collectibles since their inception in 1977. By 1978, their were 21 original Precious Moments figurines, and today they’re are over 1500 pieces in the collection! The Christian themes and heartwarming messages make these sweet tear-drop eyed children and adorable animal illustrations and figurines the perfect wedding gifts, anniversary gifts or birthday presents.

The Precious Moments porcelain figurines are by far the most popular collectible over all. In 1989, 80% of revenues for Precious Moments, Inc came from the licensed figurines.
